Discover the art of botanical printing in this fun Parent & Me Botanical Printing - Flower Pounding class, recommended for ages 4–18. Participants will learn how to use fresh flowers and plants to create unique fabric art pieces by transferring natural dyes onto specially prepared fabric using a hammering technique. Each participant will create a fabric tote or bandana to take home. This class will cover flower pounding basics, fabric preparation, and tips for choosing the best seasonal plants and flowers. This class, led by the Alzheimer’s Association, explores the role of the caregiver and changes they may experience, how to build a support team and ways to manage caregiver stress. Understanding the key aspects of caregiving can help to ensure the delivery of person-centered care while managing your own emotional and physical well being. Learn how dementia changes relationships over time, the benefit of person-centered care approaches, how to create a supportive care team and steps to identify and manage caregiver stress.

Minnesota law requires that insurance companies offer a 10% reduction on auto insurance for three years if you complete a state-approved defensive driving course taught by professional, certified instructors. This class requires a booklet to accompany the online presentation. This booklet is available for pickup when you register at the office or once you register online. Students will receive a total of 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. The classroom portion consists of ten, three-hour classes and the behind-the-wheel portion is three, two-hour private lessons (scheduled through Safeway). Visit Blooming Heights for a tour of our school district’s edible schoolyard garden. Agriculture Specialist, Melissa Trent will share a bit about the history of the garden and how it came to be. These two tours are also guided sour cherry picks and you will get to pick a bag of sour cherries for $6. Melissa will provide the ladder, cherry pitter, harvest bins and the bags. She will also provide you with a recipe that you can try at home! 1-2 participants may harvest at a time.
